Accord Party governorship candidate for Edo state, Dr. Bright Enabulele, has explained why Edo state needs a new leadership in the forthcoming election scheduled for September 21, 2024.
He disclosed that the major political parties that have governed Edo in the past 24 years have failed the state.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, Enabulele, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oduwa Global said, “the people of Edo want new leadership, they are not looking for someone that will come and talk about problems in Osadebe House, they are for a man that will not only solve the problem but have implementation to the solution.
“The people are looking beyond party lines. They will say for the past 24 years we have given all these major political parties the chance to direct our future because democracy is vested in ultimate power in the people to select the leaders that will guide them.
“For the past 24 years it looks like one party system, people are alternating power, running a democracy of the few and the people are now saying where is the reason for them to vote?
“Most of the parties don’t have principles any more. Watching the last election, you will see people are cross-carpeting, it is like business, no one has a policy or a business plan.”
The governorship candidate, however, explained how he intended to solve the problem of Edo state.
He said: “To be precise, in my manifesto, I will address the problem of the people. I have been to Edo North, and Central and I am from the South and for me it is one Edo State. I am not here to run a policy of redress.
“The candidates are taking our state like a business, protecting their interest. The people have been asking for simple things, social issues, water, power and good roads. The opposition has not been able to address these issues.
“The candidates I am contesting with have been in the corridors of power but they have not been able to address these. We don’t have honest people in our government.
“People are looking for a character, a good man, other than party affiliation. We are tired of people bypassing social issues, if you neglect social issues you will neglect critical infrastructure. I know the government will change hands, the voice of the people is unstoppable, there is an echo of change going round the state.”
