“With the Federal High Court Abuja affirmation on Wednesday, it is now crystal clear that Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s undying commitment to rescuing Edo state is a glowing testament to his worthiness to pilot the affairs of the ‘Heartbeat of the Nation’ for the next four years, party chieftain, James Ogedengbe has said.
In an interview with Blueprint reporter, Mr Ogedengbe said “the PDP candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo state, whose authenticity was accentuated by a Federal High Court as the winner of the party’s primary, has been proven as a legitimate candidate in the race.”
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja affirmed the candidature of Ighodalo while delivering the verdict on the suit filed by the state’s former governor, Philip Shaibu.
The court ruled that Ighodalo was duly elected as the candidate of the PDP for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo state.
The PDP chieftain described the landmark judgement, which upheld the party’s governorship primary election held on February 22, 2024 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City as a victory for democracy, rule of law and a well-founded affirmation of the propriety and credibility of the primary election and PDP’s internal democracy.
Ogedengbe stressed that, “The spontaneous jubilation across Edo State at the news of the judgement, reaffirms the PDP’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the undisputed preference of the majority of the people of Edo State in the coming Governorship election.”
