US Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff has tested positive for COVID-19, his office announced on Sunday.
Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, is fully vaccinated and has received three booster shots.
According to a statement from his communications director, Liza Acevedo, Emhoff is currently asymptomatic and working remotely.
“Yesterday, the Second Gentleman tested positive for COVID-19 after experiencing mild symptoms. He is fully vaccinated and three times boosted. He is currently asymptomatic, continuing to work remotely, and remaining away from others at home,” Liza said on X.
Vice President Harris has tested negative for the virus, but was tested “out of an abundance of caution” and is also asymptomatic.
This is not Emhoff’s first COVID-19 diagnosis, having previously tested positive in March 2022. Harris also tested positive for the virus the following month.
The couple had attended White House celebrations for Independence Day on July 4, just days before Emhoff’s positive test result.
