Nigeria’s Sone Aluko joins Ipswich Town coaching crew

Sone Aluko has joined Ipswich Town’s first-team coaching staff after retiring from playing at the end of last season at the age of 35.

During his playing career, Aluko scored four goals in 62 appearances for the Blues, and also played for clubs such as Rangers, Hull, Fulham, and Reading. Last year, he was one of ten Ipswich players who completed a bespoke UEFA B coaching course provided by the PFA.

Aluko expressed his excitement, saying, “It is a real privilege to start the next phase of my career by joining the first-team coaching staff here at the club. Learning from the manager and all the coaching staff here is a fantastic opportunity for me. It is a great time to be at Ipswich, and I’m really looking forward to helping the squad continue to learn and take on the challenge of the Premier League.”
