Paris 2024: Fatima Bello completes team Nigeria’s poor outing in Table Tennis singles event
All competitors in table tennis for team Nigeria in both male and female categories have now been eliminated in the singles events.
Debutant, Fatima Bello was eliminated from the 2024 Olympic Games earlier today from the competition after losing to Jia Nan Yuan of France.
Bello lost the table tennis women’s singles Round of 64 contest 4-0 (1-11, 3-11, 3-11, 5-11).
She practically struggled all through the game as she failed to match her opponent’s swiftness and precision.
Her exit ended Team Nigeria’s hope of winning a medal in the table tennis event.
Aruna Quadri, Olajide Omotayo, and Effiong Edem have all exited the competition.
Since the inception of table tennis at the 1988 Olympics, this is the first time that no Nigerian table tennis player registered at least one win.
