Protest ‘ll bring untold hardship – Adeyeye
Chairman of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, Sunday, said the planned August 1 nationwide protests will bring untold hardship, going by the current situation in Nigeria.
Senator Adeyeye who said this in Ibadan while speaking with journalists urged planners of the nationwide protests to shelve it and support President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Senator Adeyeye said hoodlums and miscreants could hijack the protest, thereby undermining the organisers’ good intentions, adding that President Tinubu economic policies would benefit Nigerians in the long run.
“The fear that we have is that hoodlums, miscreants, and evil people will hijack the protest, turn it violent, and bring untold hardship on innocent people,” he said.
The NPA chairman added, “I appeal to Nigerians to be patient, exercise restraint, and give the government more room to operate.
“I am confident that the president’s economic policies will ultimately yield fruitful dividends for the people of this country.”
He stated further that the president has proven to be a listening leader who understands the struggles of Nigerians, adding that the president’s achievements since assuming office, are efforts to lift Nigeria from its current challenges.
The chairman of South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) gave the achievements of President Tinubu administration to include the students’ loan program, local government autonomy, security re-engineering, and palliatives distribution and the ongoing reforms aimed at returning the country to the path of progress and prosperity.
