Rep Gana empowers 186 youths, women


Mr Joshua Audu-Gana, member representing Lavun/Mokwa/Edati federal constituency in Niger state in the House of Representatives, has empowered 120 youths with solar installation and tracking skills, among others.

He also empowered 66 women with grinding machines and sewing machines to be self-reliant and contribute positively to the development of the constituency.

Audu-Gana inaugurated the distribution at an event to commemorate his one year in office on Sunday in Kutigi, Niger.

Speaking at the event, Audu-Gana, the eldest son of Professor Jerry Gana, a former Minister of Information, said that the gesture would improve the standard of living of the beneficiaries and that of their family members.

“The importance of empowering the people cannot be overemphasized.

“Apart from improving their standard of living, it will also create jobs and boost the socio-economic activities of our constituency.

“What I am doing today is to improve the standard of living of our people so that they also contribute positively to the development of our constituency,” he said.

Audu-Gana restated his continued commitment to empower and bring more people-oriented projects and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the area.

He promised to provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the constituency.

“I was elected to provide quality representation at the National Assembly.

“By the special grace of God, I will continue to do that by empowering my people.

“I am there to serve our people and bring back dividends of democracy to them, that is what I am doing ,”he said.

The lawmaker also solicited for the support of all and sundry to enable him succeed.

Also speaking, Alhaji Tanko Bije, PDP Chairman, Niger and Mr Timothy Jiya, former Commissioner for Youths in the state appreciated Gana for providing the much needed dividends of democracy to his people.

They called on other politicians and other stakeholders to emulate Gana’s gesture for the overall development of the constituency.

They also assured him of their support and advice to succeed.

Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke during the event, lauded the lawmaker for the gesture.

They said that the gesture would go a long way in improving their standard of living and their dependents,

assuring Gana of their loyalty and support at all times.
