Benue: PDP suspends chairman, secretary, organising secretary 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue state Monday slammed one month suspension on three members of its State Working Committee (SWC) from office.

The affected officials are the state chairman, John Ngbede, secretary, Joseph Nyam and organising secretary, Moses Audu.

A statement issued Monday by the publicity secretary of the party, Bemgba Iortyom, in Makurdi, said the suspension of the three officials takes immediate effect.

He stated that the decision was taken at an extraordinary meeting of the SWC of the party on Saturday, at which 9 out of the 13 members were present and assented to the decision.

He said the suspended members were accused of forging and impersonating the SWC to achieve their individual aims, instigating violence and crisis during the just concluded ward congresses of the party, and mismanagement of the finances of the party, among other things.

Bemgba said the three suspended officials have been directed to appear before the disciplinary committee to answer to the charges brought against them within the period of their suspension.

He said with the suspension of the chairman, the deputy chairman, Isaac Mffo, has stepped in as the acting chairman of the PDP in Benue state.
