Enugu congress: PDP members in Eha-Ndi Agu ward hold peaceful protest, demand justice
Some stakeholders of people’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Eha-Ndiagu ward, in Eha-Alumona, Nsukka Local Government Area, of Enugu state, have called on the governor of the state, Peter Mba, and the leadership of PDP, in the state to recognize the duely elected ward executives.
They asked the governor and the PDP to ignore the fake list submitted by a few stakeholders which doesn’t match with their zoning formula.
They made their demands known during a peaceful protest in Eha-Ndiagu, Eha-Alumona, with placards with various inscriptions to drive home their demands.
They explained that there was a peaceful ward Congress of PDP held on the 27th of July, 2024, which produced some ward officials, based on the enshrined zoning formula in the ward, but a few prominent individuals from the ward hijacked the process and submitted a list of people who didn’t participate in the congress, as the officials of the ward to the state leadership of the party.
The PDP ward chairman-elect, Mr Jude Okwor, and other PDP stakeholders, lamented that the names of the duly elected ward executive which represents the 5 communities in the ward, were removed, and replaced with the names of some individuals from one section of the community.
They lamented that they have been loyal to PDP since 1999, and have maintained a zoning arrangements based on the complexities of 5 communities in Eha-Ndiagu ward, to reflect the various interests, to enhance peace and unity of the ward and communities at large.
They insisted that all the party guidelines on ward congress were followed hence their rejection of the imposition to avoid chaos in the ward.
They wondered why it is only in Eha-Ndiagu ward that a few individuals in PDP, will be allowed to thwart the efforts of the whole loyal party men and women for their own selfish gains.
They appealed to Mba to intervene so as to save the party from collapse and prevent crisis in the various communities in Eha-Ndiagu ward.
