Kano Civil Society Forum denies leadership dispute 

The Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF) weekend refuted recent  story claiming that an ‘unserved’ court order demands that its executive management cease their duties.

The current leadership, led by President Mohammed Bello, has addressed these claims as unfounded and misleading, aiming to safeguard the forum’s integrity and ongoing projects.

In a statement issued  Sunday, Bello and his team criticised what they described as misinformation propagated by individuals opposed to the newly elected leadership. The controversy centers on the claim that the court had issued an order against the forum’s management. Bello emphasised that no such order has been officially served to him or his executive committee members.

The statement further clarified that all candidates, including Ibrahim Waiya—who it said faced allegations related to transparency and governance—participated fully in the recent elections.

Waiya, according to the Forum, had responded to petitions and was cleared to contest. Despite this, he lost to Bello in the elections held on June 8, 2024.

Bello reassured the public that the election process, which involved oversight from various national and local bodies, was conducted fairly and transparently. 

Observers included the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), among others.

The election, he noted, had been deemed a model of democratic practice.

The statement also emphasised that Waiya’s interim leadership, which was appointed by the Board of Trustees (BoT), ceased to be valid following the June election, as per the KCSF Constitution. Bello urged the public to disregard the “baseless” rumors and support the current leadership’s efforts in community development and alignment with Kano State’s transformation agenda.
