New Terminator Series' Rotten Tomatoes Score Ties For Franchise Best With Original Movie

The Rotten Tomatoes score has been released for Terminator Zero. The Netflix series gives an adult animated take on the Terminator universe. Set in two distinct timelines, it tells the story of a man named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system that will compete with Skynet, a corrupted AI system that will doom humanity. Terminator Zero alternates between 1997 and 2022 wherein human survivors are in a war with machines.




Now, the Rotten Tomatoes score has been revealed for Terminator Zero. At the time of writing, the Netflix series holds a perfect 100% with 15 critical reviews so far, while the audience score is 88%. These scores are still subject to change since the show was just released on Netflix.


How The Terminator Franchise’s Perception Has Varied Over Time

Recent Terminator Movies Have Received Poor Reviews.


Terminator Zero‘s reviewspraise the show for its commitment to strong storytelling within a production that is a visual feast for the eyes. The Hollywood Reporter‘s Daniel Fienberg wrote that the series is “as much about very human choices as it is about spectacle.Bloody Disgusting felt positively about how it adds to the franchise, noting that “Terminator feature films may have become a lost cause, but Terminator Zero is just getting started.” Collider was more critical about the series overall, saying that the “plot becomes bogged down in exposition.”


The show’s 100% Rotten Tomatoes score is now tied as a franchise-high, sharing the title with the original Terminator. The original movie also received a perfect score upon its release in 1984, while audience approval was at 89%. Its follow-up, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, was even better received among audiences, landing a 95% approval. The first two Terminator movies were helmed by visionary director James Cameron, who helped lead the projects to their immensely respected status.

While the most recent cinematic entry, Terminator: Dark Fate, received decent reviews at 70% approval, most recent installments have suffered negative reviews, such as Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genisys. Terminator Zero appears to breathe new life into the franchise, offering a fresh take that exudes higher quality and care.
