OGUN: Four Arrested Over Killing Of Barber, POS Operator

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested four people in connection with the recent killings in the Kuto area of the state.

Their arrest comes in the wake of heightened security concerns in the area after a violent incident believed to be linked to cult activities.

Abiodun Alamutu, the state’s Commissioner of Police, who confirmed the arrest on Sunday, said the suspects are being held in relation to the killing of a barber at Isale Oja Kuto on Wednesday by individuals suspected to be cult members.

A few days after the barber was murdered, a Point of Sale (POS) operator identified as Fatai Kehinde also was fatally attacked.

Kehinde was said to have been chased from his shop inside the market, down to under the Kuto bridge, where he was butchered and killed. The victim, popularly known as Faity, was the son of the Baale of Kuto Community.

According to the report, the rival cult group is believed to be responsible for both murders. It was reported that the assailants who killed Faity on Friday used the same vehicle that was seen during the barber’s killing.

The Ogun CP reiterated the commitment of the police to restoring peace and order in the area.

He assured the public that Ogun State would not serve as a sanctuary for criminals, and that law enforcement are intensifying efforts to ensure that all individuals involved in the killings would be brought to justice.

“We have successfully arrested four people in connection with the killing of the barber by some suspected cultists a few days ago.

“We are also on the trail of others, and this is just to say that there is no hiding place for criminals in the state. We will apprehend everyone involved in the killings and make them answer for their misdeeds,” Alamutu stated.
