Oshiomhole spreading falsehood over Edo rice claim – PDP

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state has berated ex-governor Adams Oshiomhole over claims that  Dangote Foundation and the federal government respectively donated 20  and 30 trucks of rice to the  state government.

The party said the government did not receive rice from the federal government nor Dangote foundation.

Spokesperson for the PDP campaign council for the September 21 governorship election in the state, Rev. Olu Martins disclosed this on Monday in Benin City.

Oshiomhole had alleged that the Edo government stored   palliative rice in a warehouse without distribution and also claimed the warehouse was looted by protesters on August 1.

The PDP campaign spokesman said: “as a former governor, we believe Oshiomhole should understand how the wheel of government runs.

“Mind you, when the President issued his address on Sunday, there was no mention of palliatives as per rice going into any of the States.

“If you sent 20 trailers of rice to Edo as they have always been shouting, it should come from which ministry? And who received it?

Continuing, Martins accused Oshiomhole of trying to incite the people against Governor Godwin Obaseki “following the looting of private warehouses.”

According to him, “Edo Government had released N1 billion for the first tranche  to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to buy and distribute bags of rice.”
