Protest: Steel minister appeals for calm in Taraba
As the planned nationwide protest commences despite the pleas by the federal government for the agitators to drop their quest to proceed in their protest, the minister of state in the Ministry of Steel Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu on Tuesday, July 30 2024 in Jalingo the capital of Taraba state appealed to the demonstrators to sheath their sword and allow the Tinubu-led administration to take the country out of the wood as, the president, according to him, addresses their demands.
According to a statement signed by Tine Lulu Maureen on behalf of the ministry’s head of press and public relations, this was stated as the minister led a peace team comprising APC leaders as well as community and religious leaders and other stakeholders for an engagement with indigenes of the state with a view to persuading them against joining the proposed nationwide protest.
The minister stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is doing all that is possible within his powers to address the myriad of challenges facing the country, especially the youths.
The minister while enumerating the ills of such protests urged the citizens of Taraba state to support the president in his efforts to achieve sustainable growth of the nation’s economy.
