Protests: Senator Karimi calls for patient, dialogue

The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Karimi, has called on Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, shun violence, rioting, unlawful assembly, looting and all forms of anti-social behavior while embracing mutual dialogue, inter-communal tolerance and peaceful coexistence in order to move the country forward in all positive ramifications.

According to Senator Karimi who is also Chairman, Senate Services Commitee, the nation wide protests that ‘are taking place in some parts of the country will only lead to violence, looting, arson and even the loss of lives as hoodlums, thugs, bandits and other criminal elements are bound to hijack the protests no matter how peaceful in order to achieve their malevolent, ulterior and undesirable objectives.

Rather, the youths are enjoined to dialogue with their local, state and federal political leaders, local government chairmen, house of assemblymen, house of reps members, senators as well as traditional, religious and community leaders in order to proffer means of fostering national unity, peace and stability.

Indeed the administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has been moving in the right direction and deserves kudos for recently increasing the minimum wage for workers to N70,000 as well as providing palliatives for vulnerable members of society unduly impacted by the prevailing economic conditions.

With the right policies being put in place by the federal government, it will only be a matter of time before Nigerians will start reaping bountifully from the dividends of democracy as promised by the Tinubu administration.

So my advice to our youths, women, artisans, market women, professionals, students, civil society groups and other activist groups is to mellow down and embrace dialogue, patience, tolerance, patriotism and peaceful coexistence as a means of moving Nigeria to the next level in the crucial scheme of things.
