Rep lauds Tinubu, others for converting DASH to teaching hospital
A member at the National Assembly, representing Awe/Keana/Doma federal constituency of Nasarawa state, Hon. Abubakar Nalaraba, weekend lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the approval of the takeover and conversion of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, into Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital.
He stated this in a statement he personally signed and made available to blueprint Sunday in Lafia.
“On behalf of the good people of my Federal Constituency of Awe/Doma/Keana, in Nasarawa state, I wish to express our profound gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Jagaban Nigeria), for the approval of the takeover and conversion of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, into Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital.
“This significant decision, following the request by the Nasarawa state government, marks a monumental step toward the development of our state’s healthcare and educational sectors.
“Similarly, I sincerely appreciate the governor of Nasarawa state, His Excellency, Abdullahi A. Sule, for his proactive role in advocating for this conversion, recognizing the profound impact it will make on the state.
“I wish to also commend the former governor of Nasarawa state, Sen. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for initiating a bill that recently gave birth to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital.
The statement adds that the sole idea of the bill was muted by the former governor in 2021 and it passed through all due legislative processes at the hallowed chamber of the Senate and House of Representatives as required by law.
“Also worthy of note is that before his exit in May 2019 as the governor, Al-Makura, also graciously donated a completed building facility for the take off of the teaching hospital along rice mill/B.A.D road in Lafia, the state capital.
“With these, Sen. Al-Makura has demonstrated exemplary leadership and a clear vision for the future of Nasarawa state.
I also wish to thank the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage (rtd), and the Minister of Health, Ali Pate, for their roles in ensuring that this dream comes through.
Nalaraba said the conversion of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital into a federal teaching hospital will not only serve as a pivotal platform for the training of medical and allied sciences students, but also enhance the quality of healthcare delivery to our people.
