Southern Kaduna Youth Defend Senator Katung’s Achievements
The Coalition of Southern Kaduna Youths has risen in defence of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial District at the 10th National Assembly against a campaign aimed at tarnishing his image.
The Coalition’s Coordinator, Luke Duniya Augustine while addressing a press conference in Kaduna on Wednesday, highlighted the lawmaker’s numerous achievements, including his efforts to address security challenges, improve healthcare, and promote education in the region.
He praised Senator Katung’s collaboration with security agencies, which had led to a significant reduction in banditry attacks, and his support for local vigilante groups in the southern part of the state.
The Senator’s initiatives in healthcare, including the introduction of a bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Center in Kafanchan, were also commended.
In the area of education, Augustine noted Senator Katung’s efforts to establish a Science University in Manchok and his provision of scholarships to students across the region.
He, therefore, called on those behind the smear campaign to desist and allow Senator Katung to continue delivering quality representation to the people of Southern Kaduna.
He said, “we have keenly been following events of the last few months where some individuals or a group of individuals have decided to launch a campaign of calumny against our respected Distinguished Senator, Barr Sunday Marshall Katung by trying to smear his name and his hard-earned reputation.
“Distinguished Senator Barr Sunday Marshall Katung in the last one year has performed far beyond our expectation. He has done what no other senator has done within this short period in the history of Southern Kaduna Senatorial District.
“This is a man who has dedicated his time, energy, and resources to improve the lives of our people and the region as a whole.
“We have seen how he has been offering scholarships to students across the 8 LGAs of the zone irrespective of tribe, religion, or political learning.
“We have also seen how the Senator was able to present the plight of ginger farmers in the region who suffered losses due to fungal disease that affected ginger farms across the region last year amounting to about N10 Billion loss.
“We call on the critics and detractors of Senator Katung to desist and allow him to deliver the excellent representation he has started giving to the region.”
