Taraba suspends 2 officers for issuing fake appointment letters 

The Taraba state Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Paul Maigida Tino, Tuesday  stated that the state government has suspended two officers for issuing fake appointment letters to unemployed graduates in the state.

Tino, who stated this while briefing journalists in Jalingo lamented that the officers took advantage of the recruitment exercise done by the previous administration to offer fake appointment letters.

He noted that one of the officers work in civil service commission (CAC) while  the other one work in office of the Account General office.

“While we were carrying out screaming exercise to authenticate genuine civil servants, we discovered that some newly recruited unemployed youth who were recruited by the previous administration of Governor Darius Ishaku last year were given fake appointment letters.

“When we discovered the fake appointment letters, we withdrew them back, and set up a committee which latter exposed the atrocities the two officers committed. They colluded and printed fake appointment letters to good number of unemployed youth,” he lamented. 

He stated that the officers while on suspension will not be paid salary until the final report from the committee investigating them comes out. 

He  said he raised alarm early this year over how newly recruited civil servants were  going about with fake appointment letters. 

“The directive given to myself and the Accountant General of the state by the governor is to carry out verification exercise to fish out ghost workers assisted us to get this result,” he stated.
