The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power joined Amazon Prime Video in 2022 to critical acclaim, with a wide range of characters that grew even wider for season 2. Based on high fantasy pioneer J.R.R. Tolkien’s work, the show tackled tales set in the Second Age of Middle-earth. The show has the rights to adapt Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, plus its appendices, which outline the story that The Rings of Power is telling in detail. The Rings of Power season 2 opens with Celebrimbor as “arguably the principal protagonist,” joining Galadriel, Nori, the Stranger, Elrond, and Durin as focal points of the show. Showrunners confirmed this tidbit of information about Celebrimbor to Total Film in a print feature, along with confirmation that season 2 homes in on Sauron, and shows his story like never before. Sauron is the common thread tying together the disparate narratives of Rings of Power’s many characters, ensuring a dramatic season that connects all its plotlines.

Charlie Vickers As Sauron

Date Of Birth: October 24, 1992

Actor: Charlie Vickers was born in Australia and really broke big in The Rings of Power, with a few roles under his belt before that. Before coming to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Charlie Vickers played Dan in the Australian movie Palm Beach, and Guglielmo Pazzi in Netflix’s Medici: Masters of Florence. ​Vickers starred opposite Sean Bean in Medici and alongside Sigourney Weaver in the Amazon Original The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.

Returning Characters For Season 2

Most of the cast of The Rings of Power will return in season 2 to comprise their well-established roles. Nazanin Boniadi stepped down as Bronwyn, leaving Arondir without a love interest. There has been no news of a recast for Bronwyn. Adar was recast from Joseph Mawle to Sam Hazeldine. Apart from that, major characters like Gil-galad and Disa will resume their storylines from season 1 and the bulk of The Rings of Power cast is set to continue their arcs from season 1. Poppy, Theo, Disa, Kemen, and Eärien will all be impacted by Sauron in season 2, leading to the darkest season yet.

New Characters For Season 2
