UniAbuja gender centre hails Tinubu for signing students’ loan bill 

The Director Centre for Gender Security and Youth Advancement (CeGsYaD), University of Abuja, Dr. Gloria Shajobi Ibikunle, Tuesday hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the students’ loan bill, saying the scheme will be a huge relief to Nigerian youth and a model to others. 

Speaking at the 2024 International Youth Day celebration in collaboration with the Centre for Migration Studies Uni-Abuja, Abuja, with the theme; ‘JAPA Syndrome: Potentials, Predators, Pitfalls, Suicide Issues and Nigerian Youths,’ Dr Gloria Ibikunle said “we gathered students, our youth, in collaboration with the Centre for Migration Studies, Uni-Abuja, to interact with the students and officials that deals with migration issues to encourage the youth to avoid suicide and develop the will and believe in their country that they can live a productive and fulfilled life. 

She said, “You don’t have to Japa, and if you Japa, do it properly. 

“We discovered that there are some negative messages being passed unto youth through the social media.

“We want the youth to know that all hope is not lost for Nigeria. If you fail a curse today, that does not mean you will not pass that curse tomorrow. If you are having a particular challenge, that does not mean you will not overcome that challenge.

“So, we encourage the youth not to be depressed but live a happy life and productive as students, just like what you heard from different resource persons in this programme.”
