Three children, from the same family, at Agu-Uwani, Akwuke, Enugu South local government area of Enugu state Tuesday have died after eating beans they bought from the market.
Blueprint Weekend reports that the father of the deceased, Mr. Callistus Egbo from Nenwe, Aninri local government area of Enugu state, who also ate the meal, was lying critically ill at a private hospital in the Enugu metropolis.
Egbo is said to be the proprietor of Elohim Primary and Secondary, Agu-Uwani.
A source close to the scene of the incident said that as a result of the tragedy, many people in their area now shun beans and beans related food such as akara and moi moi.
When contacted, the police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, however said that he was not aware of the incident. “Did they report the incident to the police? I have not gotten such report,” he said.
