Arewa Groups Hail Ajayi’s Appointment As DSS boss
The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum and the Northern Awareness Network have commended President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Adeola Ajayi as the new Director General of the Department of State Services.
In separate statements in Kaduna on Monday, Yerima Shettima, President General of AYCF, and Salihu Suleiman, Chairman of NAN, praised Ajayi’s appointment, citing his impressive track record and achievements in various states, including Kogi, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, and Plateau.
“Ajayi’s successes in mitigating insecurity and restoring public safety are a testament to his capability and commitment to safeguarding the nation,” Shettima said
The groups also lauded Ajayi’s role in neutralising the insurgent group Ansaru in Kogi, demonstrating his ability to tackle security challenges.
With Ajayi at the helm, the groups expressed optimism that the DSS would adopt a more covert and intelligent approach to intelligence gathering and operational deployment.
“We believe that Ajayi’s leadership style will prioritise discretion and strategic silence regarding sensitive security matters, which will enhance the overall effectiveness of the agency,” Suleiman added.
They emphasised the need for collective support from all stakeholders, including the general public, to facilitate Ajayi’s mandate and create a conducive environment for him to implement his vision for a secure Nigeria.
The groups acknowledged the distinct challenges faced by the North and expressed hope that Ajayi’s deep understanding of these issues would enable him to restore peace and order across the region.
They believed that with the right implementation of strategies, reinforced by community engagement and trust, it was possible to turn the tide against current security threats.
AYCF and NAN encouraged all Nigerians to rally behind Ajayi, fostering a unified front against insecurity and its disturbing implications for the nation’s future.
