Borno: Many prison inmates escape

Some inmates at the Maiduguri correctional center have escaped following a prison break.

Blueprint learnt that the incident occurred due to severe flooding in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Tuesday, 10th of September, 2024.

The raging floods had caused extensive damage to the prison and other facilities in the city.

Blueprint, however, gathered that a manhunt is underway to locate and recapture the escaped inmates, with law enforcement agencies mobilising additional resources.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, authorities were yet to comment on the incident.
