Cardi B is ready for a legal battle, responding fiercely to a lawsuit that accuses her and her estranged husband, Offset, of underpaying for a mansion rental used in a music video shoot. The lawsuit, filed by the property owners, claims that the hip-hop power couple dodged a hefty rental fee after using the mansion for the “Like That” video, and are now seeking $35,000 in damages.
The owners allege that Cardi B and Offset misrepresented their intentions, booking the property under the false pretense of shooting a simple TikTok video, when in reality, it was used for a high-production music video. However, Cardi isn’t staying silent. Taking to her social media, the “WAP” rapper hit back at the accusations, calling the property owners “greedy” and accusing them of trying to take advantage of her. She claims to have paid in full for the property and provided receipts to prove it.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Cardi B shared that she and Offset paid $10,000 in cash for a full 24-hour rental of the mansion, which lasted from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. the next day. She also disclosed that they went over the time limit by just one hour and paid overage fees to the realtor in March. Cardi questioned why the owners would claim the video shoot was for TikTok, pointing out that the song was blasting throughout the shoot, making it clear it was no short-form content.
“Why would it take us 24 hours to shoot a TikTok?” Cardi B asked sarcastically in her post, slamming the allegations as absurd. She added that the lawsuit is an attempt to exploit her success. “The problem is people wanna find loopholes and get over, but IRON YOUR BEST SUIT BITCH I’ll see you in court!!!!” she wrote, clearly not backing down from the legal fight.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleges that Cardi and Offset, or their representatives, devised a plan to avoid paying the full market value for the mansion by misleading the owners. The complaint describes how the couple’s team approached the owners, allegedly pretending they only needed the mansion for a TikTok shoot. However, Cardi disputes this narrative, providing screenshots of a $4,500 payment and text messages with Offset discussing the rental terms.
In response to the media coverage, Cardi was equally unapologetic. “Receipts below! Don’t make me put my litigation wig on,” she said, replying to TMZ’s report on the case. In a fiery Spaces chat, Cardi took it further, calling the owners “greedy” and their house “ugly,” making it clear that she won’t be backing down anytime soon. “You ain’t getting s###,” she exclaimed in the chat, emphasizing that she wasn’t someone who could be easily manipulated. “I used to be a f###### stripper, hoe. I used to do the finessing over here. Can’t finesse a finesser.”
