NLC President, Ajaero Arrested At Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport

The tussle between security operatives and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has taken a dramatic turn as operatives of the Department of the State Service, on Monday arrested the Union’s President, Joe Ajaero in Abuja.

Recall that Ajaero was summoned by the Nigeria Police Force on allegations of “criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, reasonable felony, subversion and cybercrime” in a letter signed by ACP Adamu Mu’azu.

The invitation was honoured on August 20 by Ajaero who was accompanied by other union members.

But barely two weeks after honouring the police invitation, Ajaero was arrested on Monday when he was about to board a flight to the United Kingdom, for an official assignment.

Sources told THE WHISTLER that the labour leader was arrested by DSS operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Ajaero was billed to attend the conference of Trade Union Congress, in the UK holding today.
