Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the once-dominant rap mogul, was arrested in New York City following a grand jury indictment that came after nearly a year of sexual assault and trafficking allegations. According to reports from The New York Times, Diddy was taken into custody by federal agents on September 16. Homeland Security agents reportedly apprehended him at a midtown Manhattan hotel and transported him to the FBI Field Office. This arrest marks a significant escalation in the federal investigation that previously led to high-profile raids on his properties in Los Angeles and Miami.
Details of the charges remain under wraps as the indictment has not yet been unsealed. Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, confirmed the arrest but refrained from elaborating on the charges. “We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time,” Williams stated. Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, confirmed that the music mogul had voluntarily relocated to New York in anticipation of the charges and expressed disappointment with what they believe to be an “unjust prosecution.”
The arrest follows a slew of civil lawsuits that paint Combs as a violent sexual predator.
