Sept 21 poll: Let Edo people decide who governs them, PDP tells APC
Ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Edo state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Wednesday expressed its readiness for the poll, saying it is set for nothing but victory.
The party stated this at an interactive session with the media in Abuja.
The latest statement was coming less than 72 hours to the much-anticipated governorship election slated for Saturday, September 21.
This medium reports that the leading contenders; Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Olumide Apata of the Labour Party (LP) have all be talking tough and boasting of victory during their various campaigns.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon Debo Ologunagba, who warned against any form of rigging while speaking with the press said: “manipulations, propaganda, violence, intimidation, harassment and terrorizing the people with the intention of frightening and preventing them from coming out to vote will be resisted,”
The party also told newsmen that it is at alert and watching should the APC attempt to manipulate the electoral process.
He said:”We are aware that they have appointed an APC apologist and associate of APC leaders as Edo state Resident Electoral Commissioner and an attempt to foist APC thugs from Imo state to serve as POs for the election.
“The PDP has on several occasions alerted of how the APC is using some compromised Police operatives operating as IG Response Team and thugs imported from Imo and Kogi states to hound, arrest, detain and torture PDP member, supporters and other innocent citizens of Edo state with the knowledge of on trumped up charges.”
