BigHit Music Urges BTS Fans to Avoid J-Hope’s Military Discharge Location Due to Overcrowding Concerns

As BTS member J-Hope nears the completion of his mandatory military service, the group’s agency, BigHit Music, has issued a statement urging fans to refrain from visiting the site of his discharge. J-Hope, who enlisted earlier this year, is set to return on October 17, 2023. BigHit Music’s message is a preemptive effort to manage the crowd that is expected to gather on this significant day.

On Monday, October 9, BigHit Music released the statement via Weverse, the fan communication platform used by BTS and their agency. The statement informed fans, affectionately known as the BTS ARMY, that there would be no public events or celebrations for J-Hope’s discharge and strongly advised against showing up at the military base.

The official statement read: “Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC. We are excited to bring you the news of J-Hope’s upcoming military discharge. J-Hope is close to completing his active service in the army and will soon be discharged. Discharge day is a day shared by many service members.” The agency continued by reminding fans that overcrowding could create potential issues, and thus, no special events had been planned.

BigHit Music emphasized the importance of fans keeping their excitement under control, saying, “No special events are planned on the day of J-Hope’s discharge. To prevent any issues arising from overcrowding, fans are strongly advised to refrain from visiting the site. Please convey your warm regards and encouragement in your hearts.”

This respectful request comes as a way to ensure safety and privacy not only for J-Hope but also for the other soldiers and military personnel present at the site. The agency expressed its gratitude, saying, “We are always grateful for your unwavering love and support for J-Hope. Our company will continue to put our utmost effort into supporting our artists.”

J-Hope, born Jung Hoseok, is the second member of BTS to fulfill his mandatory military service. BTS’s eldest member, Jin, was the first to enlist in December 2022 and was discharged earlier this year. Following J-Hope’s return, the remaining members—RM, Suga, Jimin, V (Taehyung), and Jungkook—are all set to complete their military duties, with discharges scheduled for 2025.

In a personal note to fans last month, J-Hope shared his thoughts as his military service neared its conclusion. He posted on Weverse, saying, “One month, exactly 30 days left to go! All that time flew by, but I’m already reminiscing about it. I guess I grew pretty fond of everything here. I’ve been packing, giving away some of the gear I came to cherish, and my locker’s starting to look a bit empty.”

As fans eagerly await J-Hope’s return, BigHit Music’s request for privacy and safety is a reminder of the importance of respecting boundaries during this transitional period. While there will be no in-person celebrations, BTS ARMY is sure to show their support through heartfelt messages and love for their beloved artist as he transitions back to civilian life.
