A birthday celebrant, Ogundare Olubunmi, along with four others, has been arrested by the Lagos State Government for obstructing a road during a party.
Other individuals arrested include Omolara Ajetumobi, an event planner; Ayodele Busuyi, a musician; Owoeye Adedayo, a sound engineer; and Akinola Akinkunmi, a vendor.
The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, revealed this on Monday, stating that the individuals were apprehended for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest Ikoyi.
He emphasized that they will be prosecuted under the state’s laws.
“On Saturday, 19th October 2024, the Lagos State Government arrested individuals, including the celebrant, event planner, musician, and others, for obstructing traffic and creating an environmental nuisance.
“The suspects were arrested for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest, Ikoyi during a birthday celebration. They will be tried in court per the laws of the State,” Wahab stated in a statement shared on his X handle.
He further warned that no one would be allowed to disregard the state’s extant regulations.
“The Lagos State Government reiterates that no one is above the law and will not be permitted to disregard State regulations,” the commissioner added.
