Breaking: Court bars FG’s monthly allocations to Rivers state

A Federal High Court in Abuja, Wednesday, barred the release of federal monthly allocations to Rivers State, henceforth.

The judgement delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik said the reason was that the state government failed to violated the constitution on annual expenditure.

Specifically, the judge ruled that the current budget being operated by the state was not passed by a lawful arm of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Blueprint reports that both the incumbent Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike have been at loggerheads regarding who should be in control of the state.

While majority of the state lawmakers pitched tent with Wike, few others have been backing Fubara, a situation that had created factions in Rivers State House of Assembly.
