Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has declared Thursday and Friday public holiday ahead of November 2, Local Government elections.
This was made known on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill, who in a statement said it was “to ensure full participation of all Cross Riverians in the elections.”
Governor Otu said the decision will “allow ample time for those who have to travel from Calabar (the state capital) to various parts of the state, particularly those in far-flung areas, who have to exercise their civic duty and vote in the election.”
The Governor urged “all residents to take advantage of the two-day holidays to engage in the electoral process and make their voices heard.”
The Governor who’s a member of the All Progressives Congress (ACPC) added that “it is imperative that every citizen participates actively.”
