Trading on the floor of Nigerian Exchange (NGX) sustains growth profile, appreciating by N157 billion as gain recorded in small and medium stocks boosted market activities
The market capitalisation of listed equities appreciated by 0.26 per cent to N60.260 trillion from N60.103 trillion reported the previous year.
The NGX All Share Index also increased by 258.96 basis points to 99448.91 points against 99189.95 points traded on Thursday.
The positive performance recorded during the day was fuelled by gain in the shares of United Bank for Africa, Aradel Plc, Fidelity Bank, NGX group, Stanbic IBTC, Unilever Nigeria Plc, Mecure, Livestock Feeds Cap Plc and among others.
As a result-year-to date return went up by 33.0 per cent as 40 companies took positive direction while 14 firms closed in red.
A review of the investment on Friday showed that Cap Plc and LiveStock Feeds led gainers table with 10 per cent to close at N38.50 and N3.41 per share respectively. Eunisell followed with a gain of 9.72 per cent to close at N3.50 per unit, May and Baker added 9.56 per cent to close at N7.45 per share, Royal Express gained 9.23 per cent to close at N0.71 per unit.
On the contrary, Daar Communications topped losers chart, dropping by 9.86 per cent to close at N0.64 per unit, Mcnichols trailed with a loss of 5.10 per cent to close at N1.49 per unit, FTNCocoa fell by 4.76 per cent to close at N1.80 per unit, Fidelity Bank dipped by 2.72 per cent to close at N14.30 per unit, Chams Plc down by 2.44 per cent to close at N2.00 per unit.
The volume of transactions increased by 59.947 million, representing 13.01 per cent as investors traded 460.859 million shares worth N9.526 billion in 8772 deals against 400.912 million shares valued at N15.715 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 9211 deals.
Chams Plc let market activities with 97.663 million shares worth N197.514 million, United Bank for Africa followed with 88.479 million shares cost N2.605 million, sterling Bank traded 32.301 million shares valued at N156.905 million, AccessCorp exchanged 28.195 million shares valued at N628.040 million while Zenith Bank traded 18.882 million shares cost N753.277 million.
