The federal government has organised training on capacity building for youth development officers and professional youth workers in order to enhance their expertise to address the challenges faced by young people.
The three-day training which was organised by the Ministry of Youth Development commenced from Thursday, October 3, 2024 and ended on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
The training took place at the Manpower Development Institute, Dutse, the Jigawa state capital with the theme: “Modern Trend in Effective and Efficient Programming for Young People”.
In her remarks, the Minister of Youth Development, Dr Jamila Bio- Ibrahim, who was represented by Director,Education and Youth Development in the ministry, Mr Kabiru Mohammed, encouraged participants to embrace new ideas and perspectives, share experiences, and learn to foster meaningful connections and embody the spirit of teamwork.
“I recognise the critical role you play in shaping the future of our dear youths. This initiative demonstrates commitment to investing in your skills and knowledge, enabling you to effectively support and uplift our young people, your dedication and passion will be ignited, inspiring positive change and impactful programs”, she reiterated.
“Our objective is to equip you with innovative strategies, best practices, and collaborative approaches to address the complex challenges faced by our people in their community,” she added.
In a goodwill message, Jigawa state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmed, noted that the theme of the capacity building pointed to the fact that every stakeholder in the youth sector needs to embrace and employ various programs in developing the youth in order for them to be responsible to themselves and the society at large.
