Fubara Inaugurates 7-Man Judicial Panel To Investigate Recent Violence In Rivers

In response to the recent wave of arson, killings, and destruction of property at local government council headquarters, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has established a 7-man judicial commission of inquiry.

The commission, set up under Section 2(1) of the Commissions of Inquiry Law, Cap 30, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999, will investigate the incidents that occurred on October 7, 2024.

According to a statement signed by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, the commission will be chaired by Hon. Justice I.R. Minakiri.

Other members include Barr. Felicia Nwoke, Prof. Blessing Didia, Sir Samuel Egbe, and Venerable Alex Usifor. Barr. Uzor Ikenga will serve as counsel to the commission, while Mrs Inyingi Brown will act as secretary.

The members of the commission will be sworn in today, October 8, 2024, at 4 p.m. at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt.
