The Abia State Government has sacked the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, Prof. Onyemachi Ogbulu and replaced him with Prof. Ndukwe Okudo.
The State Government also conducted a mass shakeup of principal officers of the university.
The development was revealed on Monday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, while briefing the press on the outcome of this weekโs Executive Council, EXCO meeting chaired by Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
THE WHISTLER understands that the appointments are to take effect from Novemberย 1,ย 2024.
Kanu said Otti has also approved the release and publication of the White Paper report of the full visitation panel of the Abia State University, Uturu.
โThe Governor has approved the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor, Professor Ndukwe Okudo and new Management team and Governing Council for the university,โ the commissioner revealed.
The principal officers heading the post of the Pro-Chancellor, Chancellor, Bursar and Deputy among others were also replaced by Otti.
The Commission listed the new officers as, โOther principal officers Rt. Hon. Agwu U Agwu, Pro Chancellor, Mrs. Cathrine Uju Ifejika as Chancellor, Dr. Onwubiko Dike as member Governing Council, two Deputy Vice Chancellors, four members of Senate, two members of congregations, one member of Convocation and a representative from the State Ministry of Tertiary Education andย aย newย Bursar.โ
