Nine days to the local government elections in Kaduna state, the Chief of Sanga, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi Karma, has urged residents of the area to maintain peace and shun violence during the forthcoming polls.
The royal father made the appeal when he received the Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, and other top All Progressives Congress (APC) officials who paid him a courtesy visit in Sanga.ย
The visit also served as an opportunity to present the partyโs flag bearers for the election.
Addressing the visitors, Alhaji Karma advised the youth to refrain from being used by politicians to cause violence, reminding them of the peace accord signed in the presence of security agencies.ย
He emphasised that Sanga had a history of being peaceful and law-abiding, and he would not tolerate any attempt to turn the area into a battleground.
โWe have a responsibility to ensure peace in our domain. Let no one allow politicians to use them for selfish interests,โ he said.
While urging political stakeholders to respect the peace agreement, the traditional ruler also spoke highly of the APC chairmanship candidate, Hon. Usman Shaibu Anto, describing him as a leader who had positively impacted the lives of the people in Sanga.
โThere is no hiding place for a golden fish,โ Karma said, adding that this election was an opportunity for the people to reciprocate by electing him to office.
At the rally ground, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe called on APC supporters to come out en masse on October 19, 2024, to ensure a landslide victory for the party.
Speaking to journalists, APCโs chairmanship candidate in Sanga, Hon. Usman Anto, outlined his plans if elected, pledging to focus on rural development, agribusiness, and improving security.
โWe will open up rural areas by building roads, promote agricultural productivity, and enhance market infrastructure. Security is also a priority to ensure our farmers have free access to their farms,โ Anto said.
