Police Arrest Two Suspects For Strangling Trader To Death In Nasarawa

The Nasarawa police command has arrested
two suspects for allegedly abducting and killing Felicia Namkywa, a petty trader, in Obi LGA of the state.

The spokesperson of the command, Rahman Nansel disclosed this while speaking to the press that the suspects were members of the Shember community, Agwatashi village.

Nansel said police detectives from Obi Division had arrested the suspects based on intelligence gathered after a complaint was filed at the station.

โ€œWe received a complaint that the deceased was missing for days, and all efforts to trace her whereabouts proved abortive,โ€ Nansel said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was lured via phone call by one of the suspects who owed her the sum of N40,000.

โ€œHe deceived her to come and purchase grains in one of the settlements in the area but kidnapped and later killed her,โ€ the police added.

The police spokesperson said the suspects led operatives to the scene where the decayed remains of the victim were recovered.

โ€œThey confessed that having lured and abducted the victim, they took her deep into the forest where she was strangled to death and her remains dumped in a swamp.

โ€œThe suspects also admitted, and they took away the sum of N555,000 after killing her.โ€

The State Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, further ordered a swift investigation and prosecution while expressing condolences to the deceasedโ€™s family.
