The Nigerian Police has revealed plans to restore the lost glory of the Police Detective College, Enugu.
Part of the plans is to make the college the pride of police personnel, Nigeria as a country and indeed the whole Africa.
The Deputy Inspection General of Police, DIG Training, Mr. Frank Mba stated this in Enugu on Monday evening as he took an inspection tour of the structural facilities at the College with a view to making the requisite intervention that would transform it to meet International standard and level.
Mbah who was accompanied on the tour by the Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund, Mohammed Sheidu, said that with commitment of the Executive Secretary, police and Nigerians would soon witness significant changes at the Police Detective College that would make them proud.
Mbah described the College as the premier Police Detective College that trains not just police officers in Nigeria but the West Africa sub-region, adding that this time around, its lost glory would be restored.
He said that the inspection of the facility was the first step towards ensuring the turnaround of the decay in the College over the years before the introduction of the Police Tust Fund Intervention Project which began in 2021.
“We are happy to be here because this is the first step towards the big things, the positive things that are going to be happening here at the Police Detective College.
“This College has been the premier detective college in Nigeria, not just in Nigeria but some parts of West African countries. This school has a history of training other police detectives from the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in Nigeria and it is that lost glory that we intend to restore.
“So, our mission today is to have a holistic inspection of the school, and in line with the Renewed Hope initiative of the President and the mission and the vision of the IGP, Kayode Egbetokon, to work with the agency that is statutorily charged with making this kind of positive intervention which is the Police Trust Fund.

“Our mission is also to see how we can fix all the challenges within the school and bring it at par with the international level and make this school the pride of the police and Africa,” he said.
Positive about the ability of Sheidu to perform as the Police Trust Fund boss, Mba said that soon Nigerians will see changes in the premier Police institution.
“We are more positive than ever before that this time around, the country will see changes and police officers will have reason to be proud of the agency they belong to and Nigerians will at the end of the day feel the multiplier effect of the changes that will happen at the College.”
The Executive Secretary, Sheidu, said that the intervention of the Trust Fund would increase and help the structures at the College with the aim of upgrading the living condition of the personnel.
“One of the reasons why we are here is to actually increase and help the structures of the facility. Basically to see how we can empower and make sure that the situation, living conditions and the training condition of the personnel that will come out here are actually upgraded. What needs to be done, what needs to be worked on, that basically is why we are here,” he said.
