Properties worth millions were destroyed on Monday following a fire outbreak in a bungalow located in the Ishashi area of Lagos State.
The bungalow, which consisted of 10 rooms and 2 shops, was engulfed by flames in the early hours of the day.
Items lost to the fire included furniture, electronics, and important documents.
Confirming the incident, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, stated that there were no casualties or injuries.
He also noted that a physical examination revealed partial structural damage to neighboring buildings.
According to the LASEMA boss, an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
“The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, in response to distress calls via 767 / 112 Toll-Free lines at 0644hrs, activated the Dolphin Response Team from Igando Base,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
“On arrival of the Response Team at the incident scene by 0708hrs, LRT discovered a bungalow comprising of 10 rooms and 2 shops, engulfed by fire.”
He added, “Preliminary investigations by the Dolphin Response Team is ongoing and cause of the fire is yet to be revealed as at time of writing this report.”
In August, THE WHISTLER reported a fire incident at the Lagos State Government staff quarters that destroyed properties worth millions of naira.
The quarters, located on Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road in Ogba, Ikeja, were affected by a fire that damaged one of the two-bedroom units in Flat 5 of Block 21, a two-winged, three-story building with 16 two-bedroom flats.
The cause of the fire was attributed to electrical surge, which emanated from the children’s room.
