Sonia, the ex-wife of Nigerian footballer Jude Ighalo, has hit back at a troll who mocked her for not moving on from her ex-husband.
The troll had sent her a DM telling her to rest as she noted how she was no longer relevant. She noted how Sonia had become a motivational speaker overnight as he mocked her for not moving on when her ex had done so.
“Madam rest. U r no longer relevant o. U don turn motivational speaker. Rest abeg o.
Ur ex has moved on; why not do the same, nah?
Water wey dey ur mouth go soon dey off”.
Replying to her, Sonia told the troll to go fix her roof as she said she could have been the lady’s helper but her smelling moth wouldn’t let her help her. She pondered on what gave the troll the audacity to come to her DM.
“Go and fix your roof you like pôor troll. I could have been your helper now, but your smelling mouth no let you put one place Goat. I wonder what gave you the temerity to come to my DM. Look at her looking like someone with a cognitive disability”.
In another post, Sonia noted how women are always fond of trolling each other. She expressed concern at the societal antagonism and stigma always directed towards divorced women. She noted how, in Africa, people see divorce as a taboo, and as such, many women prefer to stay in dysfunctional marriages over getting divorced.
Sonia told the troll that she wouldn’t allow her to troll her for choosing peace over riches. She promised to come for her and her generation.
“It’s always women trolling other women for me! The societal antagonism and stigma directed toward divorced women are indeed concerning. In Africa, people often see divorce as a taboo. As a result, women prefer to stay in dysfunctional marriages over getting divorced.
Sis, you ain’t gonna troll me for choosing peace over riches. I will come for you and your generation. I grew up in Europe; we see life differently over here”.
Sonia got married to Jude Ighalo in 2009 but separated in 2020 after 10 years of marriage. Since their separation, the couple have been embroiled in social media drama as Sonia hasn’t refrained from taking shots at him.
Last year, she confirmed her marital stance with Jude, revealing that they separated in 2019 but got back in 2021 and pulled the plug in 2022 without his signature. She claimed that the footballer crawled back again to her and she accepted because of the kids. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out because of his family.
Last month, Sonia had admonished Jude to collect her bride price as she recounted how her father solely sponsored their traditional marriage. She claimed three years back, she threw a farewell party for them with goods and entertainment, but his family didn’t turn up, leaving her efforts wasted. She claimed that Ighalo’s family disrespected her father by keeping him and his elders waiting as she stressed that he and his family should come to collect the bride price.
This came days after she tendered a public apology to him, admitting that ending a relationship or friendship had always been challenging for her. She noted how they both struggled to make the marriage work even in the face of divorce, as she promised to always be there for him.
