Benue governor urges journalists to promote positive narrative

Benue state Governor, Hycinth Alia, on Friday called on journalists in the state to shun negativity and promote a positive narrative about the state.

The governor made the call while declaring open the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Benue Council Triennial Conference 2024.

The governor, who was represented by the Technical Adviser on Media and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev, highlighted the administrationโ€™s efforts to address infrastructure health and education deficits, citing recent partnerships and investments in agriculture.

He encouraged journalists to focus on progress and unity, rather than negativity, stressing that the state government has initiated various empowerment programmes including disbursing N100,000 toย SMEs recipients and N50,000 to some others under Alia Cares Initiative.

He noted that farm cooperatives have also received over N300 million from the World Bank project in collaboration with Benue state government.

Iorpev appealed to the media to support the stateโ€™s narrative as an agricultural hub, emphasising its potential to feed the world.
