Davido speaks on plans to cancel his December show

Refreshing your memory, Davido in a foreign interview, had issued a stern warning to black Americans against relocating to Africa, letting them know that it wasnโ€™t cool in Africa as the economy was in shambles. Davido, however, made it known that he wasnโ€™t badmouthing Africa; rather, he aimed to show off the little parts and leave the slums out of the frame.

His statement didnโ€™t sit well with many like Rebo Omokri, Patrick Doyle, Akashat Nymat, and others who criticized him for it.

Reacting to their criticisms, he stated that people are mad over his statement because he is the real ambassador.

Recall thatย former aide toย Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri had slammed Davido for his lack of patriotism and ignorance. He questioned how the economy was in shambles when Wizkid broke streaming records on Spotify Nigeria with his new album, Morayo. He urged the singer to learn from American singer Rihanna, who never talks down on her country, and instead uses her celebrity status to promote Barbados and project it positively to the world.

TVC Yourย View presenter, Nymat had questioned what service Davido had done for the masses, as she noted how American celebrities wouldnโ€™t badmouth their country to foreigners. Akashat urged the singer to be more guarded in his utterances, especially about the country that has given him fame.

Coming to his defense, Paulo Okoyeย told themย to leave the singer alone as he stated that Davido spoke the truth. He noted how Nigeriaโ€™s current economic state is bad with global companies leaving and local businesses facing significant losses. He admonished Nigerians to learn to acknowledge reality and work towards a better future.
