It was a joyful and memorable day as THE WHISTLER’s staff, Mr. Philip Ukpe tied the knot with his heartthrob, Gloria Ileimenni, November 16, 2024.
The wedding took place at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Gwarinpa Abuja with a holy mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Charles Uwaezuoke.
Highlight of the mass was liturgical readings, sermon, rites of matrimony and nuptial blessings. The officiating priest in his sermon spoke on the need for love and encouraged the new couple to understand that the marriage has begun and it is a lifetime commitment, stressing that there should be no room for divorce, instead, they should work together to build a good home and also contribute to the nation.
Beaming with joy after the nuptial blessing, the groom shared his elation with THE WHISTLER in an interview. ‘I’m thrilled to begin this new, beautiful chapter of my life,’ he exclaimed.
Speaking on marriage, the Abia State born journalist who is the head of business desk at THE WHISTLER, noted, “In marriage, couples have to tolerate each other. Children are one of the blessings that comes to marriage and if the parents are not coordinated and organised, it will affect the children and the society at large.
”When they affect the society, instead of contributing positively to the growth of the society, it will end up adding to the problems of the society. So I am excited for the new phase of my life and I see it as a challenge.”
He added that meeting his wife was Godly ordained and he is convinced that the Lord will always be by their side.
The bride, a Kogi State born ebony black beauty, also shared her excitement and gratitude, noting that God came through for them.
The reception which took place at the church basement was a colorful one with the presence of some notable persons like the majority leader of Abia State house Assembly, Arochukwu State Constituency, Hon. Okoro Uchnenna Kalu, the Chief Operating Officer of THE WHISTLER, Mr. Christian Chukwu and many friends and well-wishers.
Highlights of the reception were the beautiful rendition by the Holy Cross Catholic Choir and the cutting of the cake where the bride poured out her heart in prayers on her husband, while committing their new phase of life in the hands of God.
