No fewer than three people have been confirmed dead after a clash between farmers and herders ensued in the Dogon Duste area of Nasarawa State.
The Nasarawa Police Command, on Thursday, confirmed the incident during a press briefing in Lafia, the state capital.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, who led the briefing, disclosed that the incident occurred on a farm, on Monday evening.
โThe Divisional Police Officer (DPO) received a report that there was a clash between farmers and herders on Monday, at about 4:30 pm.
โOn reaching there, it was discovered that two people were killed on the farm while four others injured were rushed to a Primary Healthcare for treatment,โ he said.
He said the police found an additional corpse in the bush during a search, bringing the number of deaths to three.
The commissioner revealed that normalcy has returned to the area, as police operatives are working with the community to apprehend the perpetrators.
The police boss urged residents to continue to strengthen collaboration with security agencies to enhance security in the state.
