Lindsay Lohan confirms one of Anna’s passions will make a comeback in Freakier Friday. The sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday sees Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis return to the roles of Anna and her mother, Tess, once more trading bodies and learning more about each other’s lives and challenges. Alongside Lohan and Curtis, 2025’s Freakier Friday will also see the returns of Mark Harmon and Chad Michael Murray, while The Fabelmans‘ Julia Butters and The Acolyte‘s Manny Jacinto will play new characters.
While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her new Netflix movie Our Little Secret, Lohan shared a new detail about Freakier Friday, confirming it will feature another reunion from the original movie. She said, “Pink Slip is back together, the band. Yes!” In the original movie, Anna is part of the punk rock band Pink Slip alongside her friends Maddie (Christina Vidal) and Peg (Haley Hudson), and their efforts as a group are a key part of Anna’s body-swap journey with her mom.
What Pink Slip’s Reunion Means For Freakier Friday
Despite A Happy Resolution, Freakier Friday May Reveal An Unfortunate Fate
While Pink Slip is confirmed for an appearance in Freakier Friday, it is still unclear just how they will fit into the movie. In the first film, Tess disapproved of Anna’s band and frequently shut them down. However, her experience within Anna’s body led Tess to support her daughter’s goals and even allow Pink Slip to perform at her wedding reception.

Disney’s Upcoming Movie Releases – From 2024 To 2029
Between Pixar, the MCU, Star Wars, 20th Century Studios, and the famed animated studio, Disney has several exciting releases slated up to 2027.
However, with over twenty years passing between movies, it is unclear whether Pink Slip became successful, as the only currently released image from the sequel is of Tess and Anna screaming. It is reported that in the sequel, Anna will have a family of her own, with Butters playing her daughter, and that Anna has fallen into the same habits of her mother. Though Pink Slip could have been a success in the past, Anna’s reported demeanor may suggest that her passion has fallen to the wayside and that the band may be disbanded at the start of the sequel.
Our Take On Pink Slip’s Freakier Friday Return
The Band Was Key To Freaky Friday’s Lessons
With Pink Slip being so pivotal to the original Freaky Friday, it is unsurprising that the band will play a part in the sequel. Anna’s musical aspirations were a core element to her conflict with Tess in the original, with a large part of the resolution hinging on the pair understanding its value. As such, a return of that element would feel necessary for any follow-up story, especially with Vidal and Hudson confirmed to return.
However, with the previously reported plot details and Lohan’s specific wording of them getting “back together,” Freakier Friday may reveal that they didn’t get the success they hoped for. However, with the movie set to bring back body swapping, perhaps a new perspective can give Anna the chance to recapture the spark of her youth and give music another chance.
