In a bid to strengthen its healthcare system and combat infectious diseases, the Sokoto State Government has reiterated its dedication to revitalising the health sector.
This commitment was made known by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Animal Health and Fisheries Development, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Yabo, during a one-day workshop organised by Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
According to Alhaji Yabo, the state government has been proactive in funding initiatives aimed at tackling infectious diseases, particularly within the health and animal sectors.
He said the effort is geared towards safeguarding both public and animal health.
The Permanent Secretary also reaffirmed the government’s readiness to support organisations, groups, or individuals contributing to the control of infectious diseases.
The Commission emphasised the importance of collective efforts in building a healthy society, calling on stakeholders to rise to the challenge.
“This initiative aligns with Sokoto State’s broader commitment to fostering a resilient healthcare system and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.”
He added that the state government’s efforts to combat infectious diseases are part of its strategic plan to improve the health sector.
As reported earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) has intensified its partnership with Sokoto State to sustain polio interruption gains and rapidly reduce maternal mortality.
