Minimum wage: Sokoto government tells NLC to make submission

Sokoto state government has directed the State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress to submit its proposal of the new minimum wage.

This was contained in a press statement issued and made available to newsmen in Sokoto by the director press affairs deputy governor’s office, Alhaji Garba Mohammed.

The statement said that the Sokoto state deputy governor, Engineer Idris Mohammed Gobir, disclosed this while answering questions from newsmen shortly after a meeting with leaders of the Labour union.

Engineer Gobir said that would facilitate the process of harmonisation.

He said that the state government is committed to the implementation of the new minimum wage to its workforce.

Also commenting, the state chairman of the NLC Comrade Abdullahi Aliyu Jungul enjoined civil servants to remain calm as all necessary arrangements are being made for the Implementation of the new minimum wage.

Jungul assured that the union would forward its proposed table as requested by the state government any time from now.

He commended the state government for showing genuine commitment for the Implementation of the new salary scale.
