Ogun Deputy Governor Honoured With Engineering Fellowship Award

The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has been conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the Nigerian Association of Engineering Craftsmen (NAEC).

The honour, which represents the highest distinction bestowed by the association, acknowledges her remarkable contributions to the engineering profession.

The award was presented during NAEC’s 29th National Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting held in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, and was formally handed over to her in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

In her acceptance speech, Salako-Oyedele expressed gratitude to the association, highlighting the critical role skilled craftsmen play in driving economic growth.

She emphasized the need for certified and competent professionals, stating, “When people are looking for the best-qualified people to do their work, with your organisation and the profile you are setting up for yourself, I am sure that employers will look for organisations like yours, to certify people for them or even employ for their services.”

The Deputy Governor reiterated the commitment of the Ogun State government to skill development through its technical and vocational colleges and training centres.

She also highlighted ongoing partnerships with private sector players under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents.

The pioneer National Vice President of the association, Engr. Craftsman Mathew Ajayi, commended Salako-Oyedele for her acceptance of the award and lauded her impactful contributions to the engineering sector.

He also praised the Ogun State government’s efforts to uplift its citizens.

Ajayi revealed that the Federal Government is advancing plans to train craftsmen under the โ€˜Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework,โ€™ which is set to be formally integrated into the Federal Civil Service.

“The framework has reached the implementation stage at the Federal Ministry of Establishments,” he noted, underlining NAEC’s focus on empowering craftsmen across the nation.

This accolade further solidifies Engr. Salako-Oyedeleโ€™s standing as a distinguished professional and underscores the Ogun State governmentโ€™s dedication to fostering technical expertise and innovation.
