The Arewa Renaissance Group through its head of investigation, Haliru Nadabo, has described as an affront on the judiciary the recent election of Musiliu Oluomo as President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The group referred to an Appeal Court ruling which upheld an earlier verdict of the Industrial Court, giving Prince Ibikunle affirmation as the recognised and authentic president of the union.
Nadabo made this known in a press statement in Abuja on Monday said, “we cannot allow our judiciary to be rubbished. The holding of elections by MC Oluomo and his cohorts is an affront and confrontation on the judiciary and must not be tolerated.
“As such, the Chief Justice of Nigeria must act in this direction. Not even the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces can defy the ruling of the courts talkless of his political boy.
“It is a known fact the Alhaji Prince Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa was affirmed as the re-elected National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
“We want the newly sworn in Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kekere Ekun to probe the matter and take all necessary action against the injustice to save the integrity of the judicial system in Nigeria.
“The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice must also look into the matter and invite the affected personalities to address the issue in line with judicial interpretations.”
