Police Bust Notorious Criminal Gang In Anambra

A criminal gang comprising three suspects have been arrested in Anambra State.

They were arrested by a police-led Anti-Sit-Home Joint Patrol in conjunction with the Anambra Vigilante Operatives on Monday.

This was contained in a release by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, which was made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

According to him, the incident happened at 10am at Nkwelle โ€“ Ezunaka, adding that one of the suspects, popularly known as Akada, โ€œis wanted over armed robbery, illegal possession of firearm and enforcement of illegal sit-at-homeโ€.

He stated that, โ€œThe operatives recovered one English-made pistol and other incriminating items.โ€

He named the suspects as Chinedu Amah and Prince Nwogu, all males and residents in Nkwelle โ€“ Ezunaka.โ€

The release read, โ€œThey were arrested during a hot chase by the operatives after the victim raised an alarm about how they held him at gunpoint and dispossessed him of his iPhone and other personal belongings.

โ€œThey all confessed to the crime and mentioned Akada, who is currently at large, as their gang leader. Efforts have already been put in place to track other gang members,โ€ the police said.
